Monday, January 30, 2006 - N.E.R.D.

This morning I woke up at 5:30 a.m. with an itch in my butt and a song in my brain. That song was Snoop Dogg’s, "Beautiful," featuring the haunting falsetto vocal stylings of Pharrell Williams (The Neptunes, N.E.R.D.).  I don’t know why, but it was just in my head. Songs pop up in my head all the time, totally uninvited.  For a while I kept waking up with Cheap Trick’s "Surrender" in my head.  Anyhow, I couldn’t stop thinking about this song.  I kept thinking about the beat, then what time signature it was in, cuzz it was odd; not your standard, simple Eazy-E beat, more like a Timbaland beat, all chopped up ‘n whatnot.  I figured the song was in 5/4, with the first three hits on the "uh" of beats on, two, and three, with three quicker beats (almost a triplet, but not) starting at four and finishing out the measure.  I might be wrong, but, at 5:30 a.m. today, I was pretty damn sure about it.

Today, I continue my search for gainful employment.  I have an interview this Friday with some folks down at the St. Louis Development Corporation about an internship.  This would be a nice little gig. It’d keep me busy, keep my head in the game, so to speak, and would keep my resume nice and active.  So, wish me luck everybody.  Recently, I’ve also had some interviews for positions in Washington, D.C., and in Boulder, Col.  Either of these jobs would be pretty rad, and I hope I hear definitively from either sometime soon.  The person from D.C. with whom I spoke about work is president of a firm called TischlerBise.  They do some really cool, really sophisticated work.  In Boulder, I’ve been in contact with a firm called Winter and Company.  These people also do some very good, very sophisticated work, although in an almost entirely different capacity.

Lastly, the Fatherland calls:
If you are of German ancestry and your forebears lived in St. Charles, MO at some point in the mid 19th century, then Heinz Tonjes might be looking for you, and he might like you to visit him
